Minority Leader Mitch McConnell
Georgia has spoken. While our country and democracy continue to face unprecedented challenges, Democrats will now lead in the White House and in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate for the first time in a decade. Congratulations to Senators-elect Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff as well as to Stacey Abrams and the many committed grassroots activists throughout Georgia whose tireless efforts to turn the state blue paid off spectacularly in both the general election and Tuesday’s runoffs.
Tulchin Research is extremely proud of our work with the Southern Poverty Law Center Action Fund to advance voting rights and fight voter suppression in Georgia and throughout the Deep South. SPLC’s efforts to increase turnout by eliminating barriers to the ballot box helped to ensure that more voters of color were able to cast a ballot in the highly contested 2020 and 2021 elections decided by narrow margins. The SPLC Action Fund endorsed Warnock and Ossoff in both the general election and the runoff and used Tulchin Research’s polling to guide their messaging and targeting in their paid media. Our polling for the SPLC Action Fund in Georgia was spot on in the presidential race as well as in both U.S. Senate races as we worked closely with SPLC to maximize the impact of their work.
We were also privileged in playing a role in helping elect Warnock and Ossoff through our partnership with Our Future United to increase runoff enthusiasm and turnout among a targeted segment of lower-propensity young progressive voters, the majority of whom were voters of color. Along with identifying these voters, our polling also showed the effectiveness of communicating to them with populist economic messages that spoke to their progressive ideals. Using the findings from our polling, Our Future United created and ran a series of digital advertisements and other communications aimed at this subset of voters, helping boost Democratic margins and turnout among them in these closely contested races.
Democrats can and must compete everywhere. We extend our congratulations and gratitude to all of those who helped to flip Georgia in these crucial elections, and we look forward to partnering with you in the future to turn more red seats blue.
