Freedom Plaza Poll Supported Heavily by Manhattanites
A new poll conducted by Tulchin Research shows strong support among Manhattan voters for Freedom Plaza, a proposed mixed-use development on the East Side of Manhattan. Nearly two-thirds of voters (64 percent) support the plan, which includes more affordable housing, a new 4.7-acre park, a casino, and other benefits that will generate thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in economic activity for Manhattan and New York City. Support for Freedom Plaza extends across key demographic and political groups, including gender, age, race, and party affiliation. A similarly large majority of voters in the local community where the project would be built also supports the proposal.
“The results clearly demonstrate that Manhattan voters understand the urgent need for bold solutions to the city’s housing and infrastructure challenges, and they see Freedom Plaza as a forward-looking project that addresses these priorities,” said Ben Tulchin, President of Tulchin Research. “This level of support across communities is a powerful signal that New Yorkers are ready to embrace a comprehensive vision for inclusive and equitable development.”
