New Tulchin Research Study on Social Media's Impact on Campaigns
On Thursday, June 16, Ben presented at the American Association of Political Consultants’ yearly regional conference in Sacramento. The panel, “The One-Two Punch: Merging Technology and Traditional Messaging,” was a great success. Our presentation received a lot of positive feedback and people kept asking us for a copy, so we are excited now to share our data with you.
Some conclusions from the study, which was a joint project with ActivateDirect and PWSMC Consulting, are:
- Social Media can provide a basic measurement of public opinion;
- Social Media can serve as an “early warning system” for a campaign, especially in a crisis;
- Social Media can measure basic reactions to a major event more quickly than polling can – and perhaps provide a more accurate picture of the event’s impact.
If you’re interested in the details of the study, we have posted the presentation here for public reference.
