Garamendi Moves to the General Election in Democratic District

Garamendi finished first among the field of 14 candidates and moves into the general election as the Democratic nominee in this Democratic district.

Ellen Tauscher’s appointment to the Obama administration as Under Secretary for Arms Control and International Security Affairs in the State Department this summer led to a short and intense scramble to fill her seat. With a compressed timeline, Tulchin Research worked quickly and closely with the campaign to conduct an in-depth survey to assess the race and then provided key guidance to the Garamendi campaign involving media, targeting, and messaging strategy.

This win continues Ben Tulchin’s strong record in the East Bay. He previously polled for Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher in the 10th district and served as the pollster and a senior strategist to the successful independent campaign that knocked off former Congressman Richard Pombo in California’s 11th Congressional district.
