
Ben Tulchin
President
Founder and President of Tulchin Research, Ben Tulchin has provided research and consulting services to a wide range of clients across the country, including candidates for elected office, ballot measures, labor unions, non-profits, corporations, and foundations.
Tulchin is an award-winning pollster who serves as a senior strategist for candidate and ballot measure campaigns and has directed the polling operation for candidates at all levels of the ballot box, from president to city council. He most recently served as Bernie Sanders’s pollster in the U.S. Senator’s presidential campaign where Sanders far exceeded expectations by winning 13 million votes, 23 contests and 46% of the pledged delegates. His clients have included former DNC Chairman and presidential candidate Howard Dean, former California Governor Gray Davis, U.S. Senators Patty Murray and Harry Reid, among many others. Tulchin has helped elect and re-elect several members of the U.S. House of Representatives, the California State Legislature, several mayors around the country and recently helped elect the President of Costa Rica, Luis Guillermo Solis.
Tulchin currently advises, conducts research, and provides strategic guidance for the California Assembly Democratic Caucus, the Illinois House Democratic Caucus and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) for their independent expenditure program.
In addition, Tulchin is an expert on ballot measures and has helped guide to victory numerous statewide and local initiative campaigns on a wide range of issues. In a recent election cycle, Tulchin won 18 ballot measure campaigns.
Tulchin has provided public opinion research, targeting, and message development guidance to some of America’s top non-profits, foundations, and corporations. He has helped create and guide numerous successful public education campaigns for non-profit foundations, including the ACLU, California Endowment, the California Wellness Foundation, Defenders of Wildlife, the League of Conservation Voters, and the Silicon Valley Community Foundation as well as labor unions such as the California Federation of Teachers, SEIU and UFCW. He has provided corporate strategy and government relations advice to major companies such as General Electric, Abbott Laboratories, AT&T, National Semiconductor, Nevada Power, and Pacific Gas and Electric.
Due to his expertise in polling, politics, and campaign strategy, Tulchin is regularly quoted in the news media. His commentary has appeared in the New York Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Los Angeles Times, the Wall Street Journal, the New Yorker, Roll Call, Politico, the Hill as well as other publications and he has appeared on numerous radio and television news shows.
Having worked for several of the nation’s leading polling firms, Tulchin launched his own firm, Tulchin Research, in 2009. Previously, Tulchin started and directed Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research’s Western Region office, worked for the California-based polling firm of Fairbank, Maslin, Maullin & Associates, as well as the Washington, DC-based polling firms of Garin-Hart-Yang, Lake Research Partners, and Greenberg Research, where he began his career in polling. Mr. Tulchin received his Bachelor’s degree in History from Amherst College and resides in San Francisco.
