Tulchin Research served as the pollster for Bernie Sanders’s 2016 presidential campaign. Our firm directed the entire research operation for the campaign and we are proud of being part of the team that helped put the progressive insurgent in serious contention for the Democratic nomination.
What We Did
We conducted extensive in-depth polling, focus groups and ad tests in 45 states across the country plus Puerto Rico and advised the campaign on message, media, mail, digital, and field strategy in how to spend its $228 million budget as effectively as possible.
We ultimately helped navigate Sanders to victory in 23 primaries and caucuses, winning over 13 million votes, and winning over millennial voters in record numbers for a candidate who no one thought would go anywhere, especially when running against a very popular and powerful frontrunner who began the campaign in a dominant position. Every win with one exception required us to come from well behind, often in the final week of the state’s campaign, against a very strong opponent and a media narrative that was constantly counting us out. Our polling was consistently spot-on, accurately predicting the outcome time and time again, even when public polling showed very different results.
